The maximum operating temperature of molybdenum is approximately 1900°C. At higher temperatures, tungsten is recommended. Molybdenum's excellent high temperature properties and its resistance to aggressive glass melts make it a suitable material for electrodes and molten glass stirrers in glass melting applications.
